The new distribution center with a generous area of 12,000 m2 is being built in response to the growing demands for efficient logistics and sustainability in supply chains. Metro, which will use the hall, places emphasis on optimizing transport and minimizing environmental impact. Thanks to this investment, logistics costs will be reduced, delivery times to stores will be shortened, and CO₂ emissions from the transport of goods will also be reduced.
“This new hall is a key step for us towards a more efficient and sustainable supply of our stores. By shortening transport routes and optimizing warehouse management, we will not only improve the quality of our services, but also significantly reduce our carbon footprint,” said Romain Vincent, CEO of Metro Slovakia.
Hopi SK, as the investor in the project, sees this investment as a strategic step to expand its logistics capacities.
“Our long-term goal is to provide innovative and ecological logistics solutions. This project is proof of our efforts to combine economic efficiency with respect for the environment,” said Péter Vörös, Managing Director of Hopi SK.
The process of recycling construction waste has also contributed to the effort for ecological construction, where, for example, demolished garages and parking lots will be used as subgrade in the construction of roads to new buildings. The newly built parking lot in the area was also created by moving panels from the demolished parking lot.
The general contractor of the construction is Dynamik, a company specializing in the construction of modern logistics and industrial buildings and implementing the second project for Hopi SK.
“We are proud to be part of a project that combines technological innovation with ESG principles. Our priority is to deliver a modern and efficient space that will meet the highest standards of sustainability,” added Vladimír Vikor Jr., CEO of Dynamik.
The completion of the distribution center is planned for September 2025, and once operational, the new warehouse will play a key role in optimizing Metro's supply processes throughout Slovakia.
